Comedian Sammy Obeid to perform at Arab American Heritage Gala

IMG_6410Arab American comedian Sammy Obeid has been confirmed to perform at the Arab American Civic Council’s first annual Arab American Heritage Gala, which will be held on Sunday, April 24 at the Pacific Hills Banquet Hall in Laguna Hills.

Obeid, born in Oakland, California, is of Lebanese and Palestinian descent. He is best known for his 1,001 day streak of consecutive comedy performances. It began on December 26th, 2010, and concluded on September 21st, 2013– four days after an appearance on TBS’s Conan. Breaking the old world record on Day 731, He set the new one with 1,001 Arabian Nights of Comedy.

The gala is a first of its kind, which is geared to be an annual event in honor of the Arab American Heritage Month.

“Many Arab Americans have a thirst to rediscover their Arab roots and identities and the rich cultural history that immigrated with our ancestors to America,” said Rashad Al-Dabbagh, founder and executive director of the Arab American Civic Council. “Our gala aims to reignite pride in our culture, our contributions to America, and to reflect the vast diversity, creativity and talent of our Arab American community.”
