More than 200 community members turned out for this year’s Arab American Heritage Gala on Saturday May 7th, at the Great Wolfe Lodge in Garden Grove. We celebrated our organization, our community, and all of our accomplishments.

This year’s gala was the best to come. Among this year’s extraordinary Arab American Heritage Gala Awardees were Palestinian writer, poet, and activist Mohammed El-Kurd who received the Truth in Media Award for his role in telling authentic Palestinian stories and reshaping the media narrative around Palestine. In addition, Faith-Rooted Organizer at CLUE Adam Overton received the Solidarity in Action Award in recognition of his work advancing social justice in Orange County.
This year’s gala featured a keynote speech by Dr. Rabab Abdulhadi, Director and Senior Scholar of Arab and Muslim Ethnicities and Diasporas Studies Program at San Francisco State University. We were also honored to have comedian Reem Edan who was both the emcee and entertainment for the night, Egyptian filmmaker and political activist Sanaa Seif, and lastly Mohammed El-Kurd who performed with musician Clarissa Bitar their new spoken word/Oud musical album.
Elected officials present at the gala included Fullerton Councilman Ahmad Zahra, Mayor of Irvine Farrah Khan, Orange County 4th District Supervisor Doug Chaffee, Garden Grove Councilwoman Kim Nguyen, Mayor of Garden Grove Steve Jones, Mayor of Fullerton Fred Jung, and Anaheim School Board Trustee Al Jabbar.
