Historic MENA Advocacy Day for Arab Americans

The Arab American Civic Council, joined by the California MENA Civil Rights Coalition held a historic MENA Advocacy Day, which took place on Tuesday, April 23rd, at the State Capitol in Sacramento.

On this historic day, over a dozen dedicated members of the Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) community, representing various regions across California, gathered with a common goal. We sought to engage directly with legislators and advocate for Assembly Bill 2763, the California MENA Inclusion Act.

Throughout the advocacy day, our community members had the opportunity to meet with over 15 legislative offices. During these discussions, we emphasized the importance of MENA inclusion in the State of California that will secure data collection that will ensure fair and equal access to vital resources such as education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and social services for our communities.

press conference held with Assemblymember Bill Essayli, author of AB 2763, gave us the platform to amplify our voices and highlight the critical need for MENA inclusion in California. Our collective presence emphasized the importance of the situation and reaffirmed our commitment to bringing positive change.

Moving forward, let us maintain this momentum and work toward our goal of creating a more inclusive California for everyone. Together, we have the ability to bring meaningful change and create a brighter future for future generations
