We hope you’re staying cool in this summer heat! Despite the chaos, we’ve been working hard to serve our community, and we wanted to share some updates and invite you to our upcoming event. We’re still accepting applications and have canvassing opportunities coming up to. Be sure to check out our website to read about our open positions to apply or refer someone you know.

SAMENA Collective Kick-Off Launch!

We’re glad to announce the official launch of SAMENA, a collective of 17 organizations dedicated to advancing equity, representation, and quality of life for the South Asian Middle Eastern North African (SAMENA) community in Orange County.

On July 19th, we held a kick-off and press conference to mark this important milestone.

Our Policy & Research Coordinator, Amin Nash, presented key findings from the SAMENA survey, which highlighted the need for stronger partnerships to better serve our community’s diverse needs.

The survey, conducted in May 2024, gathered data from 13 organizations serving 49,889 clients, providing valuable insights into service utilization, demographics, immigration, education, housing, economic status, health, and civil rights.

We’re proud to be part of the SAMENA collective and look forward to working together to ensure our communities receive the recognition, resources, and representation they deserve.

Life Not Death: Celebrating Palestinian Culture in Time of War.

We will have a booth and we’d love to see the community come out, if you’re in the area come by and sign an action to call on our representatives to stop arming Israel and end the illegal occupation in Palestine. It will be this Sunday, July 28th, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at All-Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena.

Little Arabia Banners installed

The Anaheim Public Works team has installed 104 banners on 54 light poles along Brookhurst Street, from Broadway to Ball, marking a significant moment for the Little Arabia District. This project celebrates the cultural identity and heritage of the community after decades of advocacy. This initiative represents an important step in recognizing and honoring the contributions of West Anaheim’s Little Arabia community.

Mobilizing for the Upcoming Elections

On July 24th, we held a Get Out the Vote (GOTV) strategizing meeting aimed at mobilizing Orange County voters, particularly in our communities, to turn out for the upcoming elections. As the election season approaches, it’s vital that we unite our voices and collective efforts to ensure that our pro-peace and justice values are represented at the polls. To support this mission, we are actively hiring canvassers to help get out the Arab American vote. This initiative is a crucial step in amplifying our community’s voice and making a positive impact in the democratic process. Join us in this important effort!

No matter what, we still need to vote!

Election season is here! No matter how you feel about the presidency race, we need to be focused on our local elections. These elected officials are our direct representatives, making decisions that affect every aspect of our daily lives. From education to healthcare, economic development to social justice, their choices have a ripple effect on our community.
